Cian shares his makeup story
- What do you love most about being a makeup artist?
I genuinely love women and making them feel like the best version of themselves. I love really studying someone’s face and figuring out how to enhance their features and bring out their natural beauty. It genuinely doesn’t feel like work.
- What are your must-have makeup products?
Powder bronzers are my absolute holy grail, Id be lost without them. I’ve also been loving the lip balm to prep the lips before makeup. It leaves the lips looking so beautiful, and my clients are always asking ‘what is that?”
- What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?
Never pigeonhole yourself. Take every opportunity you can and try to say yes to as much work as possible. Even if something isn’t your usual style or niche, give it a go because you never know where it might lead or what doors it could open.
- Which makeup artists inspire you the most?
I absolutely love Nina Park. Her makeup is so effortless, timeless and chic. On the other hand I admire Donni Davy, the head of makeup of Euphoria . I loved all the bold, glittery, creative looks she created and the way she used makeup to add so much personality to each character.
- What makes a great makeup artist?
To be a great makeup artist, you have to genuinely love people. You need to be able to connect with anyone, put yourself out there, adapt to different environments and be able to read the room. Of course technical skill is important but so is making your client feel comfortable and confident. And always believe in yourself, because if you don’t who will?!

The programme is open to professional makeup artists across the industry — whether you're in film, TV, bridal, theatre, or fashion. Apprentices and students in training are welcome too.
