Martyna Shares her makeup story

  • How did you get into artistry?
    I always knew I want to be a makeup artist. I loved watching fashion weeks and was more interested in what was happening on the faces than the clothes itself. So after moving to Amsterdam and finishing school there I applied for a course at a famous Dutch makeup school. That opened the door to assisting on a lot of cool jobs with the most talented makeup artists in the country and working on set on my own portfolio.
    When I moved to Scotland I transitioned from fashion work to working on a makeup counter, where I gained valuable experience working with everyday clients.
    Then I stumbled into bridal which is the perfect blend of my two great loves: makeup that looks flawless in real life and stunning on camera.

  • What does being a makeup artist mean to you?
    Being a makeup artist is about turning each appointment into more than just makeup it’s a moment, a memory, and a little boost of confidence the client get to take with them.

  • What VIEVE product do you always keep in your kit, and why?
    I cannot do makeup without Skin Nova, it’s the perfect primer for any skin type, whether you’re on the drier side or a little more oily. It gives the skin a gorgeous lit from within glow without ever feeling heavy. I love how it preps the skin and makes everything glide on effortlessly. I have religiously bought it since 2022.

  • What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?
    Practice, practice, practice. And not only on one skin colour or age group. A makeup artist should be able to work with and on anyone. Stay on top of trends and network with local creatives and other MUAs in your area. Assist as much as you can.

  • Who are your biggest artistic influences (in or outside of makeup)?
    I find inspiration everywhere — from fashion runways and museums to the architecture and colours in new places I’ve travelled to. I also get inspired by the people I meet and work with. In the makeup world, I’m forever obsessed with the artistry of Hindash, Isamaya Ffrench, Peter Phillips and Janice Daoud.

  • What makes a great MUA in your eyes — beyond technique?
    A great makeup artist isn’t just good with a brush, they’re a pro listener and a great collaborator. They tune in to what the person in their chair really wants and make them feel totally at ease, taking on feedback and creating a look that feels perfect for that client. They bring a calm, reassuring energy that makes the whole experience feel comfortable.

How do I become a member?​

Just apply via our online form and upload one or two documents that show you're a working makeup artist or in training.

Who is eligible to join?​

The programme is open to professional makeup artists across the industry — whether you're in film, TV, bridal, theatre, or fashion. Apprentices and students in training are welcome too.

Where and how can I use my discount?

You’ll get 30% off core products when you shop online at vievebeauty.com. The discount is capped at £2,000 per year, which means you can spend up to £2,000 per year at the discounted rate. How long does it take for my application to be processed?
