Levi shares her makeup story
- How did you get into artistry?
I began my career in beauty retail, much like VIEVE founder Jamie! I loved being able to use makeup to help people feel good as well as express themselves creatively. I worked my way up to lead artistry roles with brands and then started my own business 5 years ago.
- What does being a makeup artist mean to you?
My makeup journey was inspired by watching my mum do her makeup when I was a child. It felt like a ritual, something to prepare you for the day. Makeup has the power to embody the energy I need for whatever the day holds. I love to use it to make myself and others feel good in themselves, that’s my main goal with my artistry.
- What VIEVE product do you always keep in your kit, and why?
Skin Dew, always. I love how it instantly elevates a look, works on a multitude of skin tones, and is great on both the face and body for that ethereal glassy glow.
- What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?
Express yourself. Find what makes you you, and your work will reflect that. If you stay true to who you are as an artist, the right clientele will follow. Also, allow yourself to be free when creating, be patient with yourself and try to find community with other artists rather than competition. We’re all in it together.
- Who are your biggest artistic influences (in or outside of makeup)?
I am heavily inspired by music. Much like I choose a makeup look that fits the occasion, I’ll pick a playlist that sets the mood for the day ahead. I’m very driven by emotion, and allow it to flow through my work - Much like a songwriter would. I’m a huge Nick Cave fan, as well as jazz artists like Ezra Collective and more recently, Sienna Spirro (who, side note, has incredible makeup always!)
- What makes a great MUA in your eyes—beyond technique?
Someone who can read a room. What we do is very intimate, in close quarters, and we work as a team to make the brand, the talent or the model feel good. Be in tune to the energy of those around you and adjust your approach accordingly. The person in your chair will feel even more amazing about your work if they’ve had a great experience getting ready with you!

The programme is open to professional makeup artists across the industry — whether you're in film, TV, bridal, theatre, or fashion. Apprentices and students in training are welcome too.
