Rachel shares her makeup story

  • How did you get into artistry?
    I’ve been obsessed with makeup for as long as I can remember. I did my sister’s makeup for a wedding and the compliments she received gave me the confidence I needed to train to become a makeup artist. I’ve always been more drawn to makeup that enhances natural beauty rather than completely transforming the way a person looks and this led me to specialise in bridal makeup.

  • What does being a makeup artist mean to you?
    Being a makeup artist is about connection as much as creativity. It’s about understanding someone’s features, lifestyle and energy, then creating makeup that feels like an extension of them. I always aim for makeup that looks considered but never overdone.

  • What VIEVE product do you always keep in your kit, and why?

  • What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?
    Take time to understand how makeup behaves on different skin types and textures. Build your kit intentionally, practise consistently and remember that confidence comes from knowing when to do less. Figure out your signature style and focus on booking like-minded clients. It’ll never feel like work if you’re always creating looks you truly love.

  • Who are your biggest artistic influences (in or outside of makeup)?
    I’m inspired by modern beauty, fashion imagery and creatives who prioritise authenticity and confidence over perfection. The VIEVE Pro Artists in The Glasgow Store are a constant source of inspiration. Watching how they use products in their own unique ways means I’m always learning new skills and techniques. One of my favourite makeup artists is Katie Jane Hughes. Her signature approach keeps skin looking like skin - glowing and natural as opposed to heavy or overly made up. Her educational content is amazing for both professional artists and everyday makeup wearers.

  • What makes a great MUA in your eyes — beyond technique?
    A great MUA knows how to adapt to the person in the chair and create an environment where people feel at ease. That confidence and calm translates into the makeup just as much as the products do.

Is there a membership fee?​

Nope! It’s completely free to join.

How do I become a member?​

Just apply via our online form and upload one or two documents that show you're a working makeup artist or in training.

Who is eligible to join?​

The programme is open to professional makeup artists across the industry — whether you're in film, TV, bridal, theatre, or fashion. Apprentices and students in training are welcome too.

Where and how can I use my discount?

You’ll get 30% off core products when you shop online at vievebeauty.com and in-store at The Glasgow Store. The discount is capped at £2,000 per year, which means you can spend up to £2,000 per year at the discounted rate. Once your application is approved, you'll receive a unique code to use at checkout. How long does it take for my application to be processed?

Applications are reviewed monthly. 

Can I share my VIEVE PRO discount?​

No, the discount is just for you — it’s a personal benefit for approved members only.

What are the discount exclusions?

Your discount applies to core products only. Limited edition items, bundles, or select promotions may be excluded.
